The decision was taken at a meeting held under the presidentship of ZP President V M Vijaya.

The issue was raised by Zilla Panchayat Vice-President Anitha Kanjithanda. She said there was no transparency in the purchase of banners and information board which have been installed in various Gram Panchayat limits in the district to provide information to the public.

The decision on tender process for the purchase of banners was not brought to the notice of elected representatives and was taken at the taluk panchayat level. In fact, the contract for installing information board was given to Vikas Associates without calling for a tender. No Taluk Panchayat meetings have taken a decision on the same, she added.
Supporting her views, Standing Committee on Education and Health Committee President Manu Muthappa said “there was no transparency in tender process. There is a need to probe into the incident.”

Zilla Panchayat President V M Vijaya said “the contract has been given to Vikas Associated without any farsightedness and for selfish motive. The meeting decided to constitute a committee led by ZP Vice-President Anitha Kanjithanda to probe into the tender process. The Standing Committee Presidents and CEO will be the members of the Committee.”

Manu Muthappa alleged that the visit of central sponsored development works by the District Jagrithi and in-charge committee is illegal. After prolonged discussion, it was decided in the meet to probe into the visit by Standing Committee on Social Justice President S N Rajarao.

Manumuthappa said District Jagrithi and in-charge committee includes MP, MLA and Zilla Panchayat members. However, during the recent inspection of the work, only three nominated members along with the MP were present.

Without the permission of the ZP President, officials were taken to the site, alleged Raja Rao.

Zilla Panchayat CEO A B Ibrahim said the officials were asked to intimate on the visit to all the members of the committee.
