The APMC authorities failed to respond several notices issued by the CMC and also dharna by the CMC staff demanding immediate payment of dues. In the morning, officials, under the Karnataka Municipal Act 147, arrived at the spot, send the staff out and then locked the office.

A team led by CMC president M P Arun Kumar, CMC Commissioner Ramaswamy, Engineer Seshagiri arrived at the office in the afternoon and locked all the four gates of the building and also seized belonging to Deputy Director.

The commissioner said the APMC failed to clear the dues despite serving several notices. They even did not respond to seizure notice served on them.

The deputy director requested the CMC president 30 minutes time to arrange the payment. Since there was no response after the time given, the officials locked the office. The CMC officials clarified that they would open the lock only after full payment of dues.

On the receipt of information, Deputy Commissioner Jaffer arrived at the spot, but there was no solution.

It may be mentioned here that the CMC staff had staged dharna in front of APMC and KSRTC offices regarding the issue and later issued notices. KSRTC had to pay Rs 12 lakh tax but it cleared 50 per cent of the amount after the dharna.
