Miscreants 'rob' dead man at Sr'Patna railway station

Miscreants are suspected to have robbed a dead man at Srirangapatna railway station in Mysore railway police limits on Tuesday.

On Tuesday at around 7.30 am, a 50-year-old man was found dead in his sleep at platform number one of the railway station. The deceased who still remains unidentified had died of a heart attack. When the investigators went to the spot, they couldn’t find anything on the person except for a handkerchief in his pocket. Police said that the man is well built, hailing from a “good family”, making them suspect robbery, after his death. 

Moreover, Srirangapatna station is known for pickpockets and other criminal activities, adding credence to robbery theory.  He is 5.2 feet tall, wheatish in complexion and is wearing a sacred thread. The body has been shifted to the mortuary attached to Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC and RI).

In another incident, a five feet tall youth was run over by a train near Coffee Curing Works, Mysore-KRS road on Tuesday. The youth is aged around 25 years. The body has been shifted to MMC and RI mortuary. Relatives if any may contact police on 0821-2516579.

Commits suicide

A 25-year-old homemaker committed suicide allegedly by hanging at her residence in Sharadadevi Nagar here on Tuesday. Sujatha wife of Vinay, a businessman is the deceased. According to her family members, Sujatha  may have taken extreme step on Monday night. The couple was married for six years and have a three-year-old son. The reason behind her extreme step is said to be post delivery health complications with recurring stomach ache.

Saraswatipuram police have registered a case.

Fatal fall

In a tragic incident, a man in an inebriated condition died after accidentally falling into a roadside trench at T K Layout in the city on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Dileep alias Ravi (38), son of Mariyappa. A two-wheeler mechanic, Dileep was a resident of first cross, Janatha Nagar.  On Tuesday morning, Dileep had consumed one peg too many. He was later found in the trench dug or a civic work. According to police  he had died due to asphyxiation.
