State releases Rs 12 cr for drinking water projects in Kodagu district

Addressing the gathering after laying foundation for developmental works of over Rs 1 crore at Sampaje Peraje and Chembu GP limits, he said that the floods in North Karnataka will have no impact on implementation of various developmental works in the rest of the State.

He said that CM has released Rs 5 crore under special package for Kodagu district and part from this another Rs 5 crore was released to Department of Public Works by the Government on Monday. Government has also decided to release Rs 10 crore for ZP Engineering Department. “Developmental works have increased by many folds after BJP government came to power in the State. Due to incessant rains road works have been delayed. The roads in Southern parts of Kodagu are spoilt due to rains and plying of heavy vehicles. BJP government will try its level best to solve the problems pertaining to people,” he said.

He informed that Sampaje, Chembu and Karike villages have been brought under Suvarna Gramodaya Project and there are plans to bring Peraje too under this project and develop this village too under the project. Government has released Rs 5 crore for repair of rain damages, once the amount is utilised further funds will be released, he assured.

“Farmers are being provided 50 to 75 per cent subsidy under Organic Farming Mission by the State government. Farmers must make use of the same. A sum of Rs 24 lakh is being given to every taluk for purchase of agricultural e quipment,” he added.

Bopaiah said that Karnataka stands second in implementation of Pradhan Manthri Gram Sadak Yojana and Kodagu district stands first in the State. About 28 km road works have been taken up under this project in Chembu GP limits, 22 kms in Hammiyala and 8.5 km in Peraje have been taken up. Road work of 15 kms in Kalathmadu in Virajpet is under completion.

APMC former president Subramanya Aradhya delivered keynote address. ZP Member K C Meenakumari, Madikeri Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Putteswamy, Madikeri Taluk Panchayat former president Nagesh Kundalpady, Chembu GP Member Veena Vani and others were present.
