Cabinet opportunity came earlier than expected: Satish

Congress MLA from Yamakanamaradi Assembly Constituency Satish Jarkiholi said that he had been asked by the party high command to wait to be inducted into the cabinet, but the opportunity to make it into the cabinet came earlier than expected.

The axing of Municipal Administration and District Incharge Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi who is also his elder brother will not have an adverse bearing on the party as he will continue to remain in the party, he stated.

Satish told reporters here on Saturday that being dropped from the cabinet cannot be taken as an insult as it has been the practice of the Congress party post-independence. Those who are dropped are also inducted back.

I myself was dropped from the erstwhile Siddaramaiah cabinet and could not find a place in the Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition government led by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy when it came to power six months back and was asked to wait for two years. Now I have been made to know about being inducted into the cabinet, Jarkiholi said.

We have to abide by the decisions taken by the party. The axing of Ramesh will not harm the party as he will remain in the Congress. All the leaders from the district will talk to him and use his clout in favour of the party candidates contesting the coming Lok Sabha elections, he said.

Satish said, he was prepared to accept any portfolio given to him but would prefer the one which has more contacts with the people as it will help him serve the society at large. Some of the portfolios that are vacant could be given to those inducted newly in the cabinet.
