MLA threatens artistes

With the Kannada film industry extending support to Sumalatha Ambareesh, K C Narayanagowda, JD(S) MLA from KR Pet, issued a threat to the artistes here on Tuesday.

Speaking at a party workers meeting, Narayanagowda warned film artistes, saying, “If Kannada actors come out and speak against the JD(S) and its leaders, they should be ready to face the consequences”.

He said, “You (artistes) are able to live comfortably only if we buy tickets for your cinema. If you people resort to politics, I will not be quiet. If you speak anything lightly about our party and our leaders, the consequences will be bad. Our party is in power. Your irregularities will have to be exposed. You will come to the streets if a probe is ordered on your assets”.

“It is not right for Darshan and Yash to canvass for a single candidate. What is the connection between you and politics? You should remember that your life is dependent on the common man who buys tickets for your films," he said.
