KJP warns of protests against Santosh Hegde

Last Updated 17 November 2012, 17:45 IST

The Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) President Dhananjay Kumar on Saturday said his party will launch state-wide protests against former Lokayukta Santosh Hegde if he continued to make comments against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Addressing a press conference in Bangalore, Kumar said Hegde had no right to speak against Yeddyurappa. “Hedge implicated Yeddyurappa in his report on illegal mining without ascertaining facts. Yeddyurappa had to resign as chief minister despite having done nothing wrong,” Kumar said.

Reacting to Yeddyurappa’s statement that he had made a blunder by resigning from the top post in July last after the Lokayukta indicted him in its report on the illegal mining, Hedge had said the former chief minister had not made one but several mistakes.

Kumar also warned BJP president K S Eshwarappa that any action against Yeddyurappa or his loyalists would be “suicidal.”
