KSE, Revanna’s aides clash at Soudha

High drama was witnessed outside Public Works Minister H D Revanna’s chamber at Vidhana Soudha when BJP leader K S Eshwarappa and JD(S) supporters engaged in a heated verbal duel on Tuesday.

Eshwarappa wanted to meet Revanna, but the minister was not in his chamber. When Eshwarappa was speaking to media persons criticising the functioning of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government, some of Revanna’s supporters, who were there, took exception and questioned what the BJP had done for the state when that party was in power. Angered, Eshwarappa asked them to shut up and move on.

“This is a strange government. Both Congress and JD(S) are trading barbs at each other and still somehow trying to run a government,” Eshwarappa told reporters.

He also accused Revanna of interfering in other departments on transfers of officials, which the minister has flatly denied. Eshwarappa said transfers have become a business for the Congress-JD(S) coalition.

The BJP leader also hit out at newly appointed JD(S) state president A H Vishwanath. “Vishwanath had clearly said he was politically over and that (JD-S supremo) H D Deve Gowda had given him rebirth. Vishwanath was unemployed all these days. What right does he have to talk about the BJP which is a national party?" Eshwarappa questioned.
