JD(U) announces second list

The Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) on Sunday announced its second list of 12 candidates for the May 12 Assembly elections. In the second list, the party has fielded candidates in Mahadevapura and Dasarahalli (Bengaluru), Tumkur City, Puttur, Ron among others. Recently, the JD(U) had announced its first list.

“The second list has been restricted to 12 candidates because we want to field only those who can put up a formidable fight,” said JD(U) Karnataka president Mahima Patel, the son of former CM J H Patel, who is contesting from the Channagiri constituency.

Miffed BJP leaders join Congress, JD(S)

Senior BJP leader and former minister Revu Nayak Belamgi on Sunday joined the JD(S) in the presence of party leader H D Deve Gowda.

Belamgi was upset with the BJP for not giving him the ticket to contest the May 12 polls. He was the minister for animal husbandry in the then B S Yeddyurappa government.

Besides, former BJP MLA Belur Gopalakrishna, who was upset with the saffron party for denying him the ticket, joined the Congress. He was aspiring to contest from Sagara constituency in Shivamogga district.

Rahul to start 2-day tour, visit Dharmasthala

Congress president Rahul Gandhi will embark on a two-day tour covering Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu and Mysuru districts starting April 26. On day one, he will address a public meeting at Ankola, followed by one in Kumta, a roadshow at Honnavar and a corner meeting at Bhatkal.

On day two, Rahul will address a corner meeting at Bantwal and then head to the Dharmasthala Manjunatha temple. He will then address two corner meetings at Gonikoppal and Periyapatna.
