Sale of UBHL assets: HC directs written reply

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday asked official liquidator, Enforcement Directorate (ED) and United Breweries Holdings Limited (UBHL) to give a written submission in response to the interlocutory application (IA) filed by UBHL.

The UBHL has filed an IA seeking directions to the court to constitute an empowered committee comprising a retired judge of the Supreme Court or the Karnataka High Court to the monitor the sale of assets of UBHL and deposit the proceeds of such sale before the high court to enable the court pass further orders.

A division bench headed by Justice Raghavendra Chauhan, which heard the application also sought to know whether the court can hear the application despite proceedings pending before other forums .

The applicant has also sought for directions for consideration of various deposits already made by the company with the court.
