The 111-year-old Siddaganga seer Shivakumara Swamiji was recovering well from the operation he underwent at Dr Rela Institute and Medical Centre here on Saturday and is communicating, doctors attending to him said on Monday.

“Shivakumara Swamiji is recovering well from the operation. He is conscious, well-oriented and is communicating well. He is gently beginning to mobilise in the Intensive Care Unit and his vitals are stable,” Dr Mohamed Rela, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Dr Rela Institute and Medical Centre said in a medical bulletin.

The seer, who was airlifted from Bengaluru on Friday, underwent an operation on Saturday for his liver ailment. The operation involved exploration of his bile ducts, removal of multiple metals and plastic stents within the bile duct and bypass between the bile duct in the liver and small
intestine.

The seer was brought to Chennai for further management of his liver and bile duct related infection and had previously undergone several endoscopic procedures for this condition.
The mutt decided to shift the seer to Chennai since Dr Rela, who had treated him a few years back, felt that the advanced treatment cannot be done in Tumakuru.

The seer was developing infections with symptoms of fever ever since he underwent stent implantation for the first time in 2016. Despite the age, the seer maintains a healthy lifestyle with no complaints of hypertension or diabetes but has issues only with his
liver.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara called on Dr Mohamed Rela at the hospital in Chennai on Monday to enquire about the well-being of Siddaganga
seer.
