The state BJP on Monday slammed Punjab minister and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu’s statement that Pakistan is more relatable to him than South India.

In a statement in Bengaluru, BJP president B S Yeddyurappa said Sidhu has insulted Kannadigas and citizens of South India and demanded an apology.

He also demanded an explanation from Congress president Rahul Gandhi on the stand of the party on Sidhu’s "derogatory statement".

"The people of Karnataka had showered their affection on Sidhu whenever he came to the state to play cricket. Sidhu has just stabbed the people of South India in the back by forgetting all the compliments and showered on him," Yeddyurappa stated.
