The State Government had not spent any funds of its own on flood relief, Deshpande said, while talking to reporters here on Saturday. “Rs 2,043.45 crore has been released for relief works so far, of which Rs 1,916.89 crore was contributed by Union Government. The State has released Rs 126.36 crore from calamity relief fund which is mobilised from public. The State on its own has failed to release funds for the relief works,” he said.

Of the Rs 262.57 crore which State has received in the form of contributions from public, only Rs 126.36 crore has been released. The Government should bring out a white paper on the relief works, he said.

He alleged that Government is in a financial crisis . Even the GDP growth rate in the State is below the national average, Deshpande claimed.

The KPCC chief expressed concern over attacks on churches in the State. Though the Governor has repeatedly cautioned State government to ensure safety of religious places, no action has been taken so far, he said.
