Sulvadi: Accused seek bail

An advocate has filed a bail application for four accused in the Sulvadi Kicchugutti Maramma Temple Prasada poisoning case.

It is said that Mahadevaswamy, an advocate from Mysuru, has filed the application before the Additional District Court in the town on Friday. The police had arrested four suspects, including junior pontiff of Salur Mutt Immadi Mahadevaswami, Ambika, her husband Madesh and Doddaiah, on December 19.

The court has remanded the accused in judicial custody till January 3. Seventeen people had died after consuming the Prasada laced with poison.

Following the incident, Chamarajanagar Bar Association members had decided not to take up the case on behalf of the accused. However, now, the Mysuru-based advocate has shown interest to appear for the accused.
