Sex CD case looks like conspiracy, honey-trap: JD(S)

The H D Deve Gowda-led JD(S) on Saturday said the sex scandal was turning out to be a case of “honey-trap” and urged the police to “find the truth without succumbing to political pressure”.

In a series of tweets, the JD(S) said the scandal was more than what meets the eye.

“What initially look(ed) like a sex scandal and sexual exploitation now seems like a conspiracy,” the party said. “The names of (Congress leaders) D K Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah have figured, making it look like a case of honey-trap. In all this, Karnataka is being put to shame before the nation,” it said.

Referring to back-and-forth audio and video releases, the JD(S) said “a big group” could be involved in the entire episode. “In the guise of providing justice to the victim, it’s becoming clearer that someone is using her to play a game,” it surmised.

The regional party asked the police to show efficiency by digging out the truth. “It’ll be a huge insult to the state and our police if the case is allowed to just be by itself, making it an entertainment for the country,” it said.

“Questions on whether this is sexual exploitation, a conspiracy or a honey-trap are troubling citizens. Without distinguishing between ruling and opposition parties, the police should find the truth. The state police are known for its sense of duty,” the JD(S) said, expressing concern over the effect this case would have on families and children.
