Students of University of Agricultural Science, Raichur, staged a protest in front of the varsity's administration office seeking permission to meet Municipal Administration Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi to submit a memorandum against allowing private institutions to offer agricultural education.

The Minister is in Raichur to chair a progress review meeting. He is scheduled to chair a one-day meeting of local bodies of Kalaburagi division at the University's hall.

The efforts of the students failed as the police have provided tight security.

The Varsity's in charge vice-chancellor Gutti Jambunath met the students and received the memorandum.

"It is improper to create problems when the Minister is visiting the Varsity. The justice should be sought in a proper way," he said.
