Will give protection to woman involved in sex scandal: Karnataka HM

This woman is believed to be the one seen in sleaze videos with BJP leader Ramesh Jarkiholi

Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday reiterated the government’s willingness to provide security to the woman believed to be involved in the sex scandal and her parents.

“We will make arrangements to provide security to her parents,” Bommai said in response to the unidentified woman’s video statement Thursday seeking protection for her parents.

This woman, who is believed to be the one seen in sleaze videos with BJP leader Ramesh Jarkiholi, has not been located by authorities till date.

“We are ready to take the woman’s statement and give her protection provided she tells us where she is. She can testify under protection wherever she is, or she can come here,” Bommai said.

He asserted that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) was carrying out an unbiased probe into the scandal. “That’s why we’ve questioned Ramesh Jarkiholi also,” he said. “Our investigation isn’t for or against anyone. We just want the truth to come out.”

The minister declined to reveal details on the SIT probe. “When a case is being investigated, there will be new developments and twists. It’s not appropriate to comment on everything,” he said.

Meanwhile, Women & Child Development Minister Shashikala Jolle told reporters that her department was ready to help the woman. “If any help is required from my department, I will not fall behind in protecting the woman,” she said.
