<p>Residents of villages under Hethur hobli in the taluk staged a protest against heavy vehicles plying on the Bisle-Kukke Subramanya Road, even though the district administration has banned the movement of heavy vehicles on the stretch.</p>.<p>“The Deputy Commissioner has imposed a ban on heavy vehicles on the stretch of the national highway 75 from<br />Shiradi. However, drivers of heavy vehicles ply on this road by bribing the security personnel at the entrance of state highway 87, Bisile-Subramanya road,” they said.</p>.<p>The villagers protested by intercepting heavy vehicles at the Vanaguru junction connecting the road to Hethur.</p>.<p>“If heavy vehicles are allowed to ply on the stretch, it may result in landslides and villagers in the vicinity will have to face inconvenience to<br />connect with Dakshina Kannada. For public convenience, only buses are allowed on this road. Until the road works are completed, heavy vehicles should not be allowed,” demanded Sathish, a village resident.</p>
