It's fog time in the mornings in this historical city as the temperatures have seen a huge dip of 4.5 degree Celsius in just 24 hours.

The minimum temperature slipped from 13.5 degree Celsius on Tuesday to 9 degree Celsius on Wednesday.

The maximum temperature saw a decrease from 27.5 degree Celsius to 25.5 degree Celsius. The fog in the city has made going outdoors difficult in the city and elsewhere in the district, like Sindhagi and Basavana Bagewadi, between 6.30 am and 10 am.

The fog is so thick that it is difficult to sight things at a distance of even two feet, drawing comparisons with snow capitals like Kashmir and Delhi.

The worst affected are vehicle riders, who had to keep headlights on while driving as the first rays of the sun touched the ground only by 10 am and cold waves continued throughout the day.

Dr H Venkatesh, chief of the agriculture college in Hitnalli, told DH that cold winds have intensified in North India due to cyclone Phethai. This has led to the cold winds blowing over the city, Venkatesh said. He said the minimum temperature may be in the range of 8-10 degree Celsius in the coming days.
