OpenAI to bring more value-added editing tools to Sora AI video creator app

New update will bring an option to stitch multiple small clips into one to create a long video.

In late September 2025, OpenAI launched the second-generation Sora video generator. It offered more controls and could follow intricate instructions spanning multiple shots while accurately preserving the realistic world in the scene. It excels at realistic, cinematic, and anime styles.

Now, OpenAI's Sora chief Bill Peebles has announced to bring several new features to the gen AI-powered text-to-video generator. One such feature is a cameo character. Users will be able to add their pet dog, guinea pig or any animal and even a stuffed toy, to the video generated on Sora.

The user has to type a description of the animal, and write some screen play for the character to perform, and Sora will do the rest of the job to include this special character into the video.

The cameo will have true attributes of the pet or animal, including a voice sample, but in a fun way to make the video look like a production-quality animation movie, as you can see the sample video shared by Peebles on the X platform below.

Further, OpenAI will also bring basic video editing capabilities to Sora, including the option to stitch multiple small clips into one to create a long video.

Further, Peebles said the company plans to bring new ways for users to share videos generated on Sora with friends and family and be able to edit and improve the video with collaborative work.

Also, OpenAI promises to remove the excessive moderation for video generation and improve the performance with new updates in the future.

In a related development, Google recently launched the Nano Banana AI editing feature in AI Mode on the Google Search application.

On Search, users can capture a photo with Lens (or select one from the gallery) and instantly transform the image with help from AI.

Google has revealed that the Nano Banana will soon be available in the Google Photos app in the coming weeks.
