Meta finally brings WhatsApp Messenger to iPad

For more than a decade, Apple device owners have been long requesting a standalone messenger app for iPad. Now, Meta has finally answered their prayers.

WhatsApp messenger app for iPad is available for download on the Apple App Store.

This special version of WhatsApp is designed to deliver a better experience on iPad's big screen. It comes with wide panels for chat lists and tabs for read, unread messages, groups, and favourites.

Also, WhatsApp has been optimised to offer multitasking on the iPad. It supports Split View and Slide Over to view multiple apps at once, so the iPad user can send messages while browsing the web or watching a video on an OTT app.

WhatsApp also works with your Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil as well.

It also supports Stage Manager for iPad Pro with M4, iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later) and iPad Air (5th generation), iPad Air 11-inch (M2 and later), and the iPad Air 13-inch (M2 and later).

Further, with the multi-device feature, all chat sessions will sync across devices (up to four), including iPhone and Mac computers. All the personal data, text and multimedia content exchanged during a chat between private individuals are protected with end-to-end encryption.

In a related development, the Meta-owned entity recently introduced a new privacy feature called 'Advanced Chat Privacy'.

Once the Advanced Chat Privacy feature is turned on, any conversation and even images/videos exchanged between two individuals will not be downloaded to the receiver's gallery app. Even the chat history cannot be exported to another device.
