<p>The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) - a UN body - is creating a new 'digital travel credential' which will allow passport information to be stored on devices used for travelling.</p><p>The existing rules - carrying boarding passes and the need to check-in for flights - will be eliminated to overhaul the aviation industry.</p><p>According to a <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/uk/transport/article/new-airport-rules-boarding-pass-check-in-fs8d5qg2j" rel="nofollow">report</a> by <em>The Times</em>, flight passengers will not be needing to check-in online or at the airports and will instead be able to download a 'journey pass' in their mobile phones when they book a flight.</p><p>The passengers will be able to walk through the airports just by using their face for verification purposes, and will also be able to upload their passport on their phones.</p><p>According to the publication's report, with no offline or even online check-in, the airlines will be informed about the passenger's flying schedule as soon as they arrive at the airports and get their face scanned.</p><p>For passengers carrying check-in luggage, the facial scanning will be done at the baggage submission counters whereas for the ones only carrying hand bags, their faces will be scanned first, at the pre-security gates.</p><p>According to <em>The Times</em>, Director of Product Management at Amadeus Valérie Viale said, "These changes are the biggest in 50 years. The last upgrade of great scale was the adoption of e-ticketing in the early 2000s.
