Three-day Aloysian Fest begins

Students present a dance at the Aloysian Fest organised by St Aloysius College in Mangaluru.

Aloysian Fest 2019, a national-level festival, organised by St Aloysius College was inaugurated here, on Thursday.

Cine actor Esther Noronha inaugurated the Fest by unlocking the Treasure Box, containing the logos of the seven events that will be held during the Fest.

She said, “The fest brings out the energy and talents among youth. I see so much life here, with enthusiastic and energetic students all geared up to unleash their talents during the three-day festival.”

Esther said, “When I opened the Treasure Box, I felt like opening up our life treasure box, because we ourselves are treasures to our family, our community, to the nation and the world.”

She called upon the student community to keep one’s interest alive.

“Winning is not important, but it is your participation that counts. Along with academics, it is important to take part in the co-curricular activities also. This is an opportunity to explore your talents and art. Indulge yourself in various activities and keep yourself occupied,” she added.

Principal Fr Praveen Martis said, “Art is an effort to create a more human world beside the real world. This Fest will give the students ample opportunities to unleash their hidden talents. Art, freedom and creativity will change society faster than politics.”

Rector Fr Dionysius Vas said, “When you really want something, sometimes you have to swim a little deeper. You cannot give up just because things don’t come easy. You have to overcome the obstacles. If you believe in yourself, you will always come out with flying colours.” He advised the students to value friendship, love and faith.

Actress Esther Noronha entertained the crowd with the foot-tapping popular Konkani song “Despacito”.

The Aloysian Fest - 2019 comprises fests such as ‘Art Beat’ from the faculty of Arts, ‘Acme’ from the faculty of Commerce, ‘Composite’ from the faculty of Imprints from the faculty of Science, ‘Spinout’ from the faculty of BBA.

In addition to this, there are two more fests—Astitva, the cultural fest of all the faculties and Aloysiad, the sports fest.
