Woman slaps harasser, he dies on way to hospital

A man, who reportedly harassed a woman over phone, died complaining of chest pain after he was slapped by the woman in Padubidri on Wednesday.

The deceased is Dinesh Sanil Manampady (45), who was an auto driver. He was assaulted by one Zeenath. Dinesh used to purportedly harass Zeenath by calling her repeatedly.

Upset by the frequent phone calls, Zeenat had asked Dinesh to meet her at Padubidri bus stand.

Zeenath, who arrived along with her father Ibrahim, slapped Dinesh in public.

When he was being taken to police station, he developed chest pain. Though he was taken to a private hospital, he breathed his last there.

Following Dinesh’s death, a large number of Hindu activists gathered in front of the police station and demanded arrest of the accused.

Dinesh’s brother has filed a complaint at Padubidri police station.
