A video of a man on a UK train saying 'India belonged to England' has made rounds on social media and sparking a backlash. The man was seen passing these racial comments to an Indian-origin woman named Gabrielle Forsyth while travelling in a train from London to Manchester.

Forsyth was travelling home and discussing work talking about immigrants when the incident took place.

The man (apparently drunk) began threatening and abusing her after he overheard Forsyth's discussion.

The video which went viral on social media platforms was seen with a caption which read, "According to forsyth_gabby, this guy expressed threatening behaviour which led her to start recording during her journey from London. This specimen also thinks it's ok to 'joke' about hitting women."

It further read, "After posting the video on twitter, Gabby said that 'Posting this resulted in receiving some of the worst racism I've ever experienced. Literally slurs I didn't even know existed'."
.
Forsyth had recorded the entire incident and shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) which she later deleted after facing a backlash.

In the video, the man is seen arguing about immigrants and UK's immigration rules.

The woman travelling along with him can be seen trying to cover her face using her coat.

The man in video is heard saying, "You’re in England, you are claiming something. You would not be in England if you weren’t claiming something."

"English people conquered the world and gave it back to you. We conquered India, we didn’t want it, we gave it back to you," the man argued.
.
The video garnered a flurry of comments. A social media user replied, "Conquered?! Maybe more like colonised, divided, looted? ...we stole their tea and now claim it comes from Yorkshire."
.
Another user wrote, "If he’s got a job, he better fucking lose it."
.
A third social media user replied saying, "Hey Mister, England exploited India for nearly two centuries, looting an estimated $45 trillion worth of wealth in today’s value. This included gold, diamonds (such as the Kohinoor), textiles, spices, and countless artifacts. We resisted, reclaimed our nation, and won independence in 1947."
.
An Instagram user replied, "The sad truth is when he’s identified and fired (that’s if he’s actually employed) he’ll ‘apologise’ and blame the alcohol, or he has mental health issues and he doesn’t recognise the man on the video. I’ll bet you a quid."
.
Another Instagram user wrote, "Why is nobody telling him to shut the fuck up?"
