South Korea jet pilot said there was a bird strike before crash: Official

Seoul: The Jeju Air jet pilot told air traffic control the aircraft had suffered a bird strike and declared mayday shortly before the planed crashed on Sunday, a transport ministry official said on Monday in a media briefing.

South Korea's deadliest air accident ever killed 179 people on Sunday, when an airliner belly-landed and skidded off the end of the runway, erupting in a fireball as it slammed into a wall at Muan International Airport.
