<p>Colombo: Sri Lanka’s population stands at 2,17,63,170 according to the 2024 census released on Monday.</p>.<p>This represents an increase of 14,03,731 from the last census of 2012, the Census and Statistics Department said.</p>.<p>The Western province has the highest percentage with 28.1 of the population while the Northern with 5.3 remains the lowest among the nine provinces.</p>.<p>The Western province’s Gampaha with 24,33,685 is the most populous out of the 25 administrative districts.
