Now, apply online for DL in five districts

Last Updated 24 May 2018, 18:24 IST

Those who want to apply for driving licence (DL) or Learning Licence in Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Kalaburagi and Belagavi do not need to go the respective RTO offices as the transport department will begin online operations in the four RTOs.

The online application window, Sarathi-4, was first launched in some of the RTOs in Bengaluru in February-March and has received positive response. The department has decided to extend the facility to other cities over the next one month.

Bengaluru Rural division RTO went online on Wednesday while Mysuru will get the facility on Friday. These will be followed by Shivamogga (June 1), Belagavi (June 5), Kalaburagi (June 25). In March, officials in the department had said that all the RTOs will get the online application window within the next few months.

Under previous version of the software (Sarathi-3), applicants had to fill and upload the details in the applications online and also submit a physical copy of the documents. They were also required to visit the RTO for signing the document. Sarathi-4 removes such hassles, limiting RTO visit to the driving test evaluation.

Interested should visit https://parivahan.gov.in and select the option for driving related applications under ‘online services’. The website will guide you to the next steps. The procedure for application can also be obtained from http://transport.karnataka.gov.in/.
