3-day Wine Festival ends with good response

The three-day Wine Festival, organised jointly by district administration, Horticulture Department, Karnataka Wine Board and Malpe Beach Development Committee, at Malpe beach has received good response from people.

The festival concluded on Sunday.

As many as 12 wineries from the state participated in the festival, which attracted a lot of visitors.

The tourists and visitors tasted a variety of wine from different brands. Stalls also showcased international wine brands from Europe, Australia, USA and New Zealand.

As a part of wine festival, food stalls offering mouth-watering local delicacies were also set up. A lot of wine brands (about 60%) from the country were sold out. Incidentally, there was 10% discount on all the wine brands. The sale of wine was 25% to 30% on Friday but the business improved on Saturday.

There was brisk sale on Sunday, said wine merchants, who had taken part in the fest.

Nearly 150 brands of wine were on display during the festival.

Karnataka Wine Board Managing Director T Somu said, “The wine fest is being organised in different parts of the state to promote the cultivation of grapes that are suitable for the production of wine and also to provide marketing facilities for wine producers. The three-day festival at Malpe beach has received good response. The wine sale has increased compared to previous years.”
