Coronavirus news highlights: Maharashtra records 5,092 fresh Covid-19 cases, Uttar Pradesh sees 2,2247 infectionsIndia's coronavirus tally crossed 85 lakh while the death toll stood at 1.26 lakh with 559 fatalities in 24 hours. Over 78 lakh people have recovered from the disease in India so far with a recovery rate of 92.41 per cent — the highest in the world. No need for fresh fiscal stimulus against Covid-19, says ex-RBI Governor Bimal Jalan

Former Reserve Bank Governor Bimal Jalan on Sunday opined against a fresh fiscal stimulus to boost pandemic-hit economy saying it is more important to spend the amount already committed by the government than to increase the deficit.
