BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Friday again mounted an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media platform X, calling him a 'liar' and saying that he would have to atone for campaigning for Modi in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, which saw the BJP stalwart become PM for the first time.
"Modi is enraged that I did not agree to being his Birbal—one who attributed all he did to Akbar," Swamy said, reminding people of Modi's promise to bring back all the black money in foreign banks in the first 15 days as PM.
He said this in response to a post put out by Jagdish Shetty, National General Secretary of the Virat Hindustan Sangam (VHS). Shetty, in his post, said that Swamy since 2015 had been writing to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, seeking action against Rahul Gandhi over his alleged British citizenship -- a matter that is now in courts.
Shetty alleged that Modi was protecting Rahul.
Swamy has, on multiple occasions, attacked the Modi government -- mostly over the India-China border issue.
In September he said, "Let PM Modi and HM Shah know that when the truth comes out that China from April 2020 has grabbed 4046 sq kms of Undisputed Ladakh territory but the duo maintained 'koi aaya nahin' lie, they will be subject to treason crime."
Meanwhile, in August, Swamy wrote on X, "The 'glorious' Modi legacy for coming 25 years: when many neighbours will surround India and work for our disintegration."
Even after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that Modi's call was the third US President-elect Donald Trump took, Swamy wrote "Who were the first two? This is front page news for a nation of 1.43 billion people. Soon Waiter will inform that Trump allowed Modi to polish his shoes."
