<p>Four students were expelled after Delhi College of Arts and Commerce found that they had submitted forged documents. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The college cancelled admissions – two students each from BCom and BCom (Hons) – after their marksheets were found fake, DCAC principal Rajiv Chopra said.All the four students were admitted in the 2014-2015 academic session. <br /><br />One of the expelled students admitted to have paid Rs 17 lakh to a tout for the admission. <br /><br />According to college officials, the issue came to light on May 13 following which thorough checks were conducted to ascertain the authenticity of the documents submitted by the students.<br /><br />The college lodged an FIR after a staff council meeting on Friday unanimously resolved to hand over the cases to Delhi Police.<br /><br />“No one from the college seems to be involved. But incidents like these certainly hurt the institution’s image,” Chopra told Deccan Herald.<br /><br />A section of teachers in the college alleged that they failed to spot the fake admissions in time.<br /><br />The expelled students were supposed to take their second semester exam this month. The principal denied any delay.<br /><br />“I had to be 100 per cent convinced before taking any disciplinary action,” he said. <br /><br />To keep a check on forged documents, administrative officers at colleges rely on information provided by the university on CDs, which contain information of class 12 results of various state and central boards. <br /><br />For verification of the certificates submitted by students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, the colleges contact the issuing authorities.<br /><br />Chopra said the college will consider hiring forensic experts to deal with fake admissions. <br /><br />According to the Delhi University official, it is not the only incident. Earlier, cases of forged documents were reported from Ramjas College, Hindu College, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College and Sri Venkateswara College.</p>
