<p class="title">With financial year 2017-2018 about to end, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has adopted a novel method to motivate its revenue team by giving incentives, including IPL ticket, and cash prizes to officials who meet the target of collecting urban development (UD) tax.</p>.<div dir="ltr"><div>In a bid to ensure tax collection is done in time, JMC has decided to reward 'achievers' with cash prize along with a ticket to an IPL match. The JMC has given separate UD tax collection targets to various zones. Orders for the same were issued earlier this week.</div><div> </div><div>The JMC has set a target of collecting Rs 50 lakh a day for Mansarovar, Sanagner and Vidhyadhar Nagar zones. If the revenue team meets the target, a cash prize of Rs 5,100 will be given to each individual member as well as a ticket for an IPL cricket match.</div><div> </div><p class="CrossHead">Major defaulters</p><div> </div><div>According to a JMC official, the JMC's efforts to collect revenue has failed even though it has proposed a budget of Rs 1,715.90 crore.</div><div> </div><div>The JMC fixed a target of recovering Rs 250 crore as UD tax. However, it has collected only 20% from property owners. </div><div> </div><div>"Major defaulters include state government-owned departments such as the Rajasthan Avasan Mandal, RUIDP, Rajasthan Vidyut Prasaran Nigam and the bus stand. Other defaulters include temples, NGOs, media organisations and jewellers along with properties owned by the erstwhile royal family. Hotels, resorts and marriage gardens, some owned by politicians, too are among the big defaulters", an official said. </div></div>
