AAP slams BJP ads for 'violating' poll code

Aam Aadmi Party on Friday attacked the BJP for its front page advertisement in various newspapers saying that it is a violation of the poll code.

The BJP ads list the achievements of the Narendra Modi government in the past 8 months and urge the people of Delhi to give it an “absolute majority”.

“BJP is giving big ads in big papers, what law is this? Want to know where they get money for ads,” AAP leader Ashish Khetan said.

AAP Delhi state convenor Ashutosh took to Twitter to question the BJP’s source of funding behind these advertisements. “From where BJP gets money to give front page ad in every newspaper. These ads are most expensive and costly,” he said in a tweet.

“Such ADs after campaigning stopped are violation of EC model code of conduct. Also shows how much money BJP has,” the AAP leader in another tweet said.

Responding to the allegations, the BJP spokesperson G V L Narsimha claimed that such ads are no violation of the poll code. He said, “The ad just talks about the positive agenda of BJP and there is no violation of any kind. Such ads can be given till the day of polling.”

The AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal questioned the effectiveness of BJP ads. He tweeted, “BJP has highlighted its 7 months achievements in its full page ads today. Do these achievements excite you? R they as per ur expectations?”

He also cautioned the voters against the BJP’s misleading campaigns. “Today, the BJP is trying its best to malign our image. They will do bad things by using my photograph, wearing our caps. But the truth is truth. The public knows it all,” he said.
