Two men have been arrested for involvement in a cricket betting syndicate in the national capital, police said on Monday.

Naresh Kumar, a resident of Rohini Sector 16, and Surender Kumar, from Shastri Nagar, were arrested on Sunday for operating on the Commonwealth Bank Series being played between India, Australia and Sri Lanka in Australia.

“The syndicate was active from Surender’s home. At the time of the raid, it was found that the racket had betted above Rs 30 lakh for Sunday’s match between India and Australia,” said I B Rani, deputy commissioner of police (north).

A television, 19 mobile phones, two laptops, one calculator and four internet data cards were recovered form the spot.

During sustained interrogation, it was revealed that the duo had adopted a unique modus operandi to keep their operation under cover.
