Delhiites to vote for AAP again: Survey

Sixty-three per cent Delhiites will vote for the Aam Aadmi Party if the state assembly polls were held tomorrow, a survey said Monday.

A total 51 per cent of the city’s electorate also said they will vote for AAP if general elections were held tomorrow.

The ABP News-Nielsen opinion poll, conducted on January 25 and 26, interviewed some 1,500 people.

“Almost two-thirds majority, 63 per cent of respondents surveyed said they will vote for AAP if Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections were held tomorrow,” it said.

The survey said 55 per cent Delhiites felt that Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti’s action against an alleged “sex and drugs ring” that involved African women would have a negative impact on AAP’s image, though 40 per cent felt otherwise.

Reacting to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s subsequent dharna demanding action against policemen who allegedly did not cooperate with Bharti during the raid, 50 per cent said it was not right as against 48 per cent who justified the 30-hour roadside protest.

The survey said a majority of the respondents (55 per cent) rated overall performance of the chief minister in the past one month “very good” or “good” with a mean score of 3.5, which implies an above average performance.

Twelve per cent rated his performance as “poor” and four per cent “very poor”.
For which party they would vote for in the Lok Sabha polls, 51 per cent said they will vote for AAP if general elections were held tomorrow.

However, BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi continues to be the most popular candidate to lead the nation.

Fifty per cent Delhiites said they wanted Modi as the prime minister, 37 per cent chose Kejriwal and 10 per cent preferred Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.

“It would appear that 14 per cent of those who said they would vote for AAP in the Lok Sabha elections would prefer someone other than Kejriwal as PM,” the survey said.
