<p>Naveen, the 17-year-old boy killed in the DTC bus accident on Friday, had come to the Capital to attend his friend’s college festival.<br /><br /></p>.<p>An 11th standard student of HDM Public School at Palwal in Haryana, Naveen was invited by his 19-year-old friend Prabhu Dayal to attend ‘Accenture’, the annual festival of Delhi University’s Acharya Narendra Dev College.<br /><br />“Naveen was one of my best friends. He left home at 8.30 am and had taken a train from Palwal railway station to Okhla railway station. We were supposed to meet at noon. When I invited him to the festival, I never thought I would never see him again,” said Prabhu, a BSc first-year student at Acharya Narendra Dev College in Kalkaji.<br /><br />Naveen was hit by the DTC bus when he came out of Okhla railway station. He was walking under Modi Mill flyover near Capt Gaur Marg when the accident happened.<br /><br />Prabhu said a police officer informed him about the accident when he rang Naveen’s cellphone.<br />“When Naveen did not contact me at noon, I rang him. Then a policeman answered and asked for my identity. In the same breath, he told me that Naveen had been killed in an accident. I was completely shocked,” said Prabhu.<br /><br />He informed Naveen’s brother, Lakhan, and went to AIIMS trauma centre to identify the body. The body will be handed over to the family after a post-mortem.<br /><br />The DTC driver, Devender, 38, said he lost control and rammed into a wall. Three more persons were injured in the accident. The bus was plying between Sriniwaspuri DTC depot and Mehrauli.<br />He said the brakes had failed. He has been arrested and a case has been registered against him with Amar Colony police station. <br />The bus was also impounded and sent to Okhla Industrial Estate police station.<br /></p>
