The first three positions in the Common All India Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2018 was secured by three boys from Jaipur, who are also friends and studied in the same institute.

Aman Garg got the first rank, Devish Kaushik stood second and Anmol Gupta secured the third rank.

Aman Garg, a resident of Durga Pura, scored 159 out of 200. “I knew I was going to pass the exams as my papers went fine. But getting a first rank was like icing on the cake. After completing my Class X, I wanted to become a lawyer. I opted for commerce for 10+2 and pursued coaching for CLAT,” the 18-year-old said who cleared the exam in first attempt.

Attributing the success to his parents and teachers, Aman said, “It was my parents and teachers who had faith in me and they believed I can become a good lawyer as I have an ability to debate and discuss. I worked on my general knowledge and reasoning.”

Aman's father is an officer with the Rajasthan administrative services and his mother is a housewife. He will be the first lawyer in his family.

Aman met his friends at Jaipur-based coaching centre Pre-CLAT.

Devish and Anmol have scored same marks, 157.5 out of 200. “We both have scored equal marks but Devish rank is second as he scored more marks in the legal studies," said Anmol, who cleared the CLAT exam in second chance.

When asked which subject did he find difficult while cracking CLAT, Anmol told DH, "I had to work hard to improve my English skills.”

Each year, the CLAT exam is organised by the National Law University. This time the examination was organised by National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi. Around 59,000 candidates from across the country had appeared in the exam for admissions in 19 national law colleges in the country.

From Rajasthan alone, there were 4,636 aspirants. The exam was conducted at 15 centres in Jaipur.

On the basis of the CLAT results, admission will be given for 2,340 seats. The result will be available online on the official website until June 6, 2018.
