<p>As many as 20 candidates who have undergone a formal training in civic leadership are in the fray for BBMP polls this time. These contestants are the alumni of Bangalore Political Action Committee’s B CLIP programme.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The B PAC Civic Leadership Incubator Program (B CLIP) aims to build a group of people capable of being civic leaders by honing their skills in ward-level management and administration. The candidates of this nine-month programme have been trained in public policy analysis, municipal administration, ward mapping, understanding of ward level issues etc, according to B PAC members. The candidates also undergo practical training through community projects. <br /><br />Of the 20 candidates, 10 are contesting as Independents, five on Loksatta Party ticket, three are from BJP and one each are in the fray on Congress and JD(S) tickets.<br /><br />Addressing mediapersons here on Friday, B PAC president Kiran Mazumdar Shaw opined that BBMP had the image of a corrupt entity and the residents of the city needed to rid the Palike of that image. <br /></p>
