<p> Bengaluru: The last day of 2024 was a record-setting one for quick commerce and food orders.</p><p>For Swiggy Instamart, Mangaluru and Bhubneshwar were the busiest new cities, with highest orders of snacks including chocolates, chips and soft drinks, its co-founder Phani Kishan Addepalli shared on social media platform X. The app saw a peak of 853 orders for chips every minute on December 31. </p><p>By 3 pm Bengaluru led with most orders on the food delivery platform Swiggy.</p>.<p>Individuals also geared up for the new year in a healthy style as a user in Bhubaneswar even bought protein bars worth Rs 12,000. Meanwhile, Zomato owned Blinkit also witnessed a similar demand of party items like chips, soda and even condoms till 7 pm, on Tuesday, according to data shared by its chief executive officer Albinder Dhindsa on X. </p>.Despite challenges, Bengaluru to remain hot real estate market in 2025.<p>Another item which was added to the list was grapes, with its high demand leading it to go out of stock. Similarly, Blinkit delivered seven times more grapes than usual. </p>.<p>Even ice hit its peak around 7 pm on Tuesday, with 119 kgs being delivered to Mumbai. Bengaluru and Hyderabad also emerged as the top locations stocking up for chilled drinks, leaving Chennai behind even after a double of its regular orders, on Swiggy Instamart. </p>.<p>Its peer Blinkit delivered around 2,34,512 packets of aloo bhujiya, followed by 45,531 cans of tonic water and close to 7,000 packets of ice cubes. Additionally, users also bought a little more than a thousand lipsticks and 262 lighters, as of 8 pm on Tuesday. </p>.<p>Time sensitive customers also ordered almost 1,16,099 burgers on New Year’s eve. Meanwhile, cities like Ludhiana, Rajkot, Pondicherry, and Kanpur also surpassed their regular orders by around three times of an average day. </p>.<p>On a pan India level, both the rapid delivery platforms surpassed its last year’s new years eve orders earlier in the evening. </p>.<p>BigBasket also witnessed a surge in demand for ice along with items of home baking, cards and party games selling in significant numbers. Tata's quick commerce arm also saw a jump in non-alcoholic beverages of a little more than 500%. Meanwhile, consumers also ordered disposable cups and plates and garbage bags in high numbers than usual.</p>
