Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), in association with the government of Karnataka, will organise the first ASEAN Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Meet between January and February 2019 in Bengaluru.

Talking to DH, FKCCI President Sudhakar Shetty said the ASEAN Business Meet will help further expand the investment initiatives in Karnataka.

"The central government has proposed us to organise the meeting even after tough competition from other states, and this shows the goodwill of the state. We want to make it a grant success with the participation of all stakeholders," he said.

Shetty said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be invited to inaugurate the event. "Our endeavour is to bring together the chambers of commerce, business persons, exporters and importers of ASEAN countries along with some special invitee countries on one platform to promote trade, business and investment," he said.

The meet will further fuel two way investment, trade and technology flow from 24 countries into Karnataka, especially in tier-II and tier-III cities, with a focus on 14 sectors.

He said around 1,500 delegates from chambers of commerce, business and industry, embassies and consulates are expected to participate.

"We are expecting the business meet to fetch over Rs 2,000 crore investment. Already, industry bodies from 17 countries have shown interest in the event. We are planning a road show in Jakarta, Tokyo and Singapore," he said.

There will be B2B, B2G and B2C meetings and a trade exhibition with 150 stalls with exhibitors from different countries including India.
