<p>Infosys on Friday announced the acquisition of Kallidus (doing business as Skava) and its affiliate.<br /><br /></p>.<p>“The acquisition is an all-cash deal for a total consideration of $120 million, including retention bonus and a deferred component,” the company said. Infosys described Skava as a “leading provider of digital experience solutions, including mobile commerce and in-store shopping experiences to large retail clients”.<br /><br />Skava has been listed twice in Inc magazine’s Inc 5,000, a list of the fastest-growing private companies in the US. The list is prepared based on revenue growth over a four-year period. According to Inc, Skava “provides a mobile-commerce platform that powers mobile, tablet, omni-channel, in-store, catalog and social commerce for retailers, including Staples, Gap and Toys R Us”.<br /><br />Skava was ranked #614 in the 2013 Inc 5000 list, and slipped to #751 in the 2014 list. According to the company profile provided by the magazine, Skava had revenues of $22.9 million in 2013 and logged a three-year revenue growth of 608%. Inc says the company, which was founded in 2002, employed 272 people, adding 192 people in three years.<br /><br />The company’s website says it is headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in Atlanta, New York, London, and Coimbatore. It claims to be a privately held, profitable company.<br /><br />Skava lists Arish Ali and Sudha K V as founders. Arish is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) and has a Master’s from the University of Massachusetts. Sudha is an alumna of the University of Illinois (Master’s in Computer Engineering) and the Harvard Business School. Both have previously worked with Brience and Microsoft. The company website profile says Arish oversees management, and Sudha manages all technology and product development.<br /><br />Infosys also said it has made an early-stage investment of $2 million in a company called Airviz, to acquire a minority share. “Airviz is a personal air quality monitoring startup and spinout from Carnegie Mellon University. This investment was made out of the $ 500 million Innovation Fund…,” Infosys said. Airviz has brought out a fine particulate monitor called Airwiz Speck, which uses patent-pending technology from Carnegie Mellon University, the company said.</p>
