President Pranab Mukherjee will arrive here Friday to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda's historic voyage from Mumbai to the West to attend the Parliament of the World's Religions.

Swami Vivekananda's voyage started from the Gateway of India, and he took a ship that stopped also in China, Japan and Canada before reaching the USA, where he addressed the Parliament of World's Reglions in September 1883.

President Mukherjee will preside over the commemorative function of that epoch-making trip at the Mumbai University, jointly organised by the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission here.

In the afternoon, the president will fly to Pune for the seventh convocation of the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, a deemed university.

The next day, he will travel to Latur for the valedictory function of the Dayanand Education Society's golden jubilee celebrations.

The same afternoon, he will leave for Shirdi in Ahmednagar district for praying at the renowned Saibaba Temple, before returning to New Delhi in the evening.
