JOIN USSamsung Galaxy F62 review: Power-packed mid-range phone
Last month, Samsung launched the Galaxy F62, second F series phone to launch in India. It is available in two configurations--6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage-- for Rs 23,999 and Rs 25,999, respectively.
It has one of the highest battery capacity (7,000mAh) and the fastest chip for a mid-range phone in the market. It competes with the popular OnePlus Nord, and Vivo V20 series, among others.
I have spent a considerable amount of time with the Galaxy F62 and here are my thoughts on Samsung's new mid-range phone.
Design, build quality, and display
Samsung's Galaxy F62 flaunts a glossy shell on the back. The body is made of smooth polycarbonate material and on top, it has a dual-tone laser gradient design with blue and silver colourway and the whole of the shell features visually appealing stripes.
However, the phone is a giant dust magnet. You have to keep wiping the fingerprint smudges all the time. Sadly, the company is not offering any silicone cover for the phone, buyers have to purchase one separately.
The phone is a bit heavy (218) and thick (9.5mm), but it does offer a good grip to hold on to the device more firmly. It offers three dedicated slots-- two for nano SIMs and one for the microSD card on the left side.
Also, it has a Type-C USB port flanked by a 3.5mm audio jack to the right and a mic & single grille speaker on the opposite at the base. On top, you will find a lone mic.
On the right side, there is a volume rocker and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, which also doubles up as the power button. By the way, the biometric sensor worked wonderfully fell and responds fast to the finger impression.
As far as the display quality is concerned, the Galaxy F62 not only has the best screen in its class but also better than rival phones in the upwards of Rs 40,000. It boasts a 6.7-inch full HD+ (1080 x 2400)super AMOLED Plus screen. It offers a peak brightness of up to 420 nits and has a pixel density of 393 (pixels per inch).
It has a punch-hole front camera, which occupies a small space at the top. It is more like bindi on the head, not obstructive. With smart wallpapers, it easily gets hidden in plain sight.
Also, I had a really good time watching videos on the big beautiful screen of the Galaxy F62. It also offers an adaptive display, which changes brightness according to the environment around the phone. There is an Eye Comfort feature to reduced the blue light and reduce the stress on the eyes while browsing or reading content on the phone in low-lit conditions.
Performance
The former flagship phone Galaxy Note10+, which for me was the most versatile phone of 2019, shares one similarity with Galaxy F62. Both are powered by 7nm class Exynos 9825 (2.73 GHz Exynos M4 x 2 + 2.40 GHz Cortex-A75 x 2 + 1.95 GHz Cortex-A55 x 4) with Mali-G76 MP12 graphics engine.
The Galaxy F62 works buttery smooth and responds quickly with day-to-day chores such as app loading, switching between apps, operating the camera, and playing graphics-rich games.
Samsung's Galaxy F62 scores an impressive 782 and 2005 points on single-core and multi-core tests on Geekbench. This is considerably good for a mid-range phone compared to the rival brands.

The USP of the Galaxy F62 is the battery life. During the review period, it consistently gave more than two days of battery life under normal usage. I usually browsed the internet most of the time to get the latest updates on cricket test matches and while commuting between home and the office I mostly watched trailers and music videos on YouTube, a photography session lasting more than an hour a day, and a session of gaming not more than 30 minutes.
The Galaxy F62 is one of the best phones with long battery life and also, the 25W charger takes approximately two hours to fully charge the device. This is understandable given how big the battery capacity.
Camera
Samsung Galaxy F62 boasts quad-camera module-- 64MP (with Sony IMX682 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 1/1.73-inch pixel size, 0.8µm, PDAF) backed by 12MP 123-degree ultra-wide angle sensor (f/2.2) + 5MP depth sensor (f/2.2) and 5MP macro sensor (f/2.4) with LED flash.
It takes pretty good photos in the sunlight. The colours of the subject particularly come off warmer than natural. But, I won't complain, as the picture is really good quality and retains the details.
Also, the portraits, close-up (macro) and wide-angle shots are really fine for its asking price. Even the night mode come off good
On the front, it comes with 32MP (f2.2) selfie shooter. It takes fine quality selfies not just in the sunlight, but also even indoors too.
Final thoughts
With online classes becoming the new normal in India, there is a huge demand for smartphones with a big screen and long battery life. This is where Samsung's new mobile Galaxy F62.
It comes with a massive 6.7-inch full HD+ super AMOLED plus screen and is powered by Exynos Exynos 9825 CPU with a huge 7,000mAh cell. Consumers can play games, stream videos, attend the virtual class for several hours without having to worry about straining eyes.
It boasts an adaptive display feature that automatically warms the screen at low-light conditions and there is an always-on eye comfort shield option, to lessen the strain on the eyes.
Even the camera is decent for its price. It takes pretty good pictures in all light conditions. Over-all, the Galaxy F62 is a well-packaged mid-range phone.
