The 3rd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) would be held in Mumbai on June 25-26.

The theme would be “Mobilising Finance for Infrastructure: Innovation and Collaboration”.

The meeting will bring together leaders from all types of organisations and levels of government to share ideas and experiences for creating a sustainable future through sound infrastructure investment.

Ministers from AIIB members, as well as participants from partner institutions, the private sector, civil society organisations and leading experts from a range of fields, will discuss and share recommendations on how to address Asia’s infrastructure gap in an environmentally and socially friendly way.

Headquartered in Beijing, AIIB commenced operations in January 2016 and has now grown to 86 approved members from around the world. India is not only one of the founding members of AIIB but is also the second largest shareholder in AIIB.

The international event will provide an excellent opportunity to showcase the strengths of the Indian economy and introduce AIIB members to potential infrastructure investment opportunities in India and Asia.

The Attendant Meeting of the Board of Directors will take place on June 23-24, preparatory work and ancillary events will take place from June 22-27.

A special committee, at the level of the secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, has been constituted for coordinating the matters relating to organising the meeting, with representatives from various ministries of the central and Maharashtra governments.

The state government has nominated Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) as the nodal agency for organising the meet.
