Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her record eighth Budget on Saturday. She began her Budget speech by highlight the government's efforts to accelerate growth, secure inclusive development, invigorate private sector investments, uplift household sentiments, and enhance spending power of India’s rising middle class.

A key announcement from the Budget speech was the revised income tax slabs under the New Tax Regime, in a bid to provide relief to salaried individuals and tax payers.

He speech lasted 74 minutes, which ran into around 7,900 words. She also holds the distinction of delivering the longest budget speech at two hours and forty minutes in 2020.

In 2019, Sitharaman's budget speech had lasted for two hours and 17 minutes. In 2021, her speech lasted for one hour and 50 minutes, followed by 92 minutes in 2022 and 87 minutes in 2023.
