The number of apartment residents testing positive in Bilekahalli rose to 103 on Tuesday of the 1,400 who were tested.

This would be a major concern for officials trying to prevent a second wave of Covid-19. One resident has been hospitalised due to low oxygen saturation levels, while others are under home quarantine.

M Ramakrishna, Joint Commissioner, BBMP, Bommanahalli, said the medical officer at the Kodichikkanahalli primary health centre had been roped in to ensure complete testing, he added.

BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad said there were 141 primary healthcare centres and 200 mobile testing teams in the city. No sealing, posters or barricades will be placed in areas where Covid cases are found. While primary and secondary contacts will be quarantined, they will be tested after seven days, he added.

The cases came to light after a 42-year-old man and his wife got themselves tested in order to travel to Dehradun and the result came back positive on February 10. The BBMP was informed only on February 12. Following contact-tracing, it was found that all those who had attended a party on February 6 were infected.
