Commercial flight operations will be partially affected at the Kempegowda International Airport from February 20 to 24 in view of Aero India 2019, the biennial aerospace exposition to be held at the Yelahanka Air Force Station here.

The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) on Monday officially announced the flight cancellation timings. The closure of operations will be to facilitate the rehearsals for the aerial flight displays and the main show.

In a release, BIAL informed that it was working with all the airlines offering scheduled aircraft operations that will be impacted during this period. This is to ensure minimal disruption to existing schedules during the reduced operating hours.

Passengers will not be inconvenienced as the change in airport operations will be communicated in advance by the respective airlines. Information on the cancelled/revised flight timings during the airshow will be shared, BIAL assured. Increased traffic is anticipated on Airport Road during the airshow. This could increase the commute time for passengers flying out of KIA. To accommodate this, BIAL said ancillary support by airport taxi and bus services will be aligned accordingly.

All changes to airport operations will be made available on the website (www.bengaluruairport.com) for passenger reference. BIAL, however, advised passengers to check with their respective airlines on the status of their flights.
