JOIN USBinnypet ward (ward number-112) in Govindarajanagar constituency will have a byelection on Monday, necessitated by the death of corporator Mahadevamma Nagaraj in January. The state election commission has ordered the BBMP to hold the elections, which will be conducted between 7 am and 5 pm.
In all, 37 polling booths have been identified, of which seven are critical. "Polling booths have been identified and the mustering and de-mustering units will be held in the Home Science College," read a press release.
The contestants are Aishwarya B N, daughter of Mahadevamma, who is contesting on a JD(S) ticket; Chamundeshwari from the BJP; and the Congress' Srividya Shashikumar.
Counting of votes will be held on June 20 at the Home Science College. A holiday has been declared on Monday to nearby industries to facilitate the voting process.
