BJP plans 'massive' protest over property tax

The BJP will stage a massive protest and lay siege to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike office on May 3 over the hike in property tax and the mounting garbage problems in the city.

Party state president B S Yeddyurappa, who held a meeting with the BJP corporators and city leaders on Saturday, said more than 10,000 party workers would take out a ‘padayatra’ across the city before converging on the BBMP office.

Several issues plaguing the city were discussed at the meeting and strategies were drawn up to address them. The leaders also explored the options available to fight maladministration in the Palike and the government. They also discussed ways to bring the BJP back to power in the BBMP in the next term.

Union Minister Ananth Kumar, MLAs R Ashoka, V Somanna, Ashwathnarayana, S R Vishwanath, Suresh Kumar, B N Vijay Kumar, MLC Tara and others were present in the meeting.
